And now, the news.......

We update whenever possible, or if there are things to report.

January 2007

Happy belated holidays from The Smugglin’ YoYos.

After a short break to celebrate the holidays, recharge the batteries, and learn some new tunes, the boys came back rockin’ in January.  The 13th saw the YoYos tearin’ it up at Woo Doggies on Columbus ’ West Side .  The cold kept a few people at home, but that didn’t stop the people there from having a blast.  Shout out to Debi and Teri who came all the way down from Marion for the party.  We owe ya one when we get back to your neighborhood.

One week later The YoYos made a triumphant return to Cardo’s in Chilicothe.  As always, Cardo’s kicked our butts.  That’s a crowd that knows how to party.  You know it’s a good night when the band has to make sure the people get home ok!  Zack celebrated his birthday with us, boy! They were a bunch of party animals!  Our biggest fan Carolyn was there, she never misses a show. Great time!! Chili…you rock!

We have some more Columbus dates coming up this spring, check the Shows Section.  And make sure to make plans to come party with The Smugglin’ YoYos at J. Lindsey’s on March 17th for the St. Patrick’s Day Blow Out.  It’s going to be a beer-soaking good time.

The annual band trip to Las Vegas is coming up in May.  Stay tuned for pictures and details of the wild times in…oh wait.  What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!  Never mind!

November 2006

On The Rocks - November 11, 2006

OK.... we made lotsa new friends.  It was our first Saturday
playing at OTR, and things went swimmingly.  We met Paul and Stacy from Milwaukee, a few gals from Pomeroy (yes, Meigs county) and they actually said that they knew our
part-time-fill-in guitarist, Tony  (his hometown is Pomeroy). We also celebrated a few birthdays, and danced the night away with Julie from San Diego (she really, really, really, really liked singing backups).  The Miller Lite Girls stopped by and also helped out with the background vocals...thanks ladies! There were a few Michigan fans there, but they were OK people....so we didn't give them too hard of a time.

See ya at the Beat Michigan party at the OK Cafe in Marion on November 18.

PS's:

To the guy who lost his cell phone - we hope ya found it.

And to the guy with the anger issues, we hope you're feeling better.

J. Lindsay's - November 4, 2006

It was great to see Jake and Suzanne as they got back from their honeymoon in Hawaii. They arrived in Hawaii right when the earthquake happened.  Congratulations to the happy couple!  Now here are your rations of Doritos and Mountain Dew.

October 2006

OK Café - October 28, 2006

Costumes, alcohol, mayhem.  All the essentials.  Look for photos.

September 2006

OK Café benefit/Dean Stiltner - September 16, 2006

Lots of rock and roll.  It's a long time since we've played on the back of a flatbed truck - always cool.  The band extends its best wishes to Dean and his family and wishes all of them well.  We had a blast and thanks to everyone who came out in support.

Stay tuned, sports fans....we'll see ya in Chili...Steve and Dan will be there with bells on.

Hineygate - September 9, 2006

Well, it doesn't get much better than that.

The Bucks.  Budweiser and Captain Morgan.  Special thanks to Holiday Inn On The Lane and 610 WTVN.

Michigan Mike and Dean Heid were the most awesome stage advisors......Dave sends his extra special thanks.

Todd is very thankful that the Captain Morgan girls were there --   now he remembers why he drinks.  The Captain and his Crew surely know how to strut.  But seriously, it didn't get any better for us that night....playing a Hineygate, partying with all the Buckeye fans and watching the Bucks beat the crap out of the Texas Longhorns.  Moo Longhorns.  You sucked.

Congratulations to Jake and Suzanne at their bachelor and bachelorette parties.....great way to throw a party.  Ron K...you are a wild man.  See you at the wedding.

Oh, and Danger Brothers --  thanks for letting us use the Meijer stage.  Sorry about the mess.

June 2006

Wet Spot - June 10, 2006

Crazy .  We were warming the folks up as they get ready for Jackyl  on Wednesday (14th).  Lots of birthdays there in Caledonia - and they really seem to dig the one and only country tune we do.  Yee-haw!  Blame it all on our roots....

J.Lindsay's - June 3, 2006

The good ol' folks at J. Lindsay's treated us to some frosty cold ones, and the Yo2 boys turned it up.  Good times. Thanks to Rob for filling in on sound - great job!  Special hellos to Wendy, Julie and Dora.

April 2006

Cardo's - April 22, 2006

BIG crowd in Chillicothe on Saturday.  Nicole, Mom (Jennifer), and April were to there to assist in the festivities, and pretty much dance the night away. The Chilli crowd is always a great bunch of folks, and we always enjoy playing there……

After the gig, the band was back at the hotel, and we were safely nestled in our beds by 3:45am…until 4:30, when there came a gentle rapping upon our door.

We answered the door and there stood a young lady who proceeded to fervently report to us that the Smugglin’ Yo-Yo’s were apparently arrested during a drunken brawl outside of the Cardo’s Restaurant & Bar Saturday night.

This took us all by surprise, since we looked around at each other and mused that we didn’t remember being arrested. And it’s not that we’ve NEVER been arrested, it’s just that we didn’t recall being arrested Saturday night. After discussing it at length with our female confidant, we were able to confirm that we were indeed not arrested that night.

Now, between sets earlier that night we witnessed a young male subject attack another patron outside on Cardo’s front steps, right as one of Chillicothe’s finest was watching right across the street (duh alert).  The altercation was quickly and efficiently extinguished by the young peace officer, who insisted that the two gentlemen “break it up” by willing to demonstrate how his shiny new taser pistol worked. They complied, and one of the men was quickly hauled off to the tank.

Update: The Smugglin’ Yo-Yo’s were able to ascertain the identity of the males who were purportedly arrested and initially identified as members of Yo2. They were in fact Steve and Dan.  Though no photographs are available, the two apparently closely resemble the Yo2 singer.

Wet Spot - April 15, 2006 -  Tax day

'T'was the night before Easter and all through the house not a creature was stirring except a whole lot of party animals at the Wet Spot. It was a Tax Day/Night before Easter party. Lots of beer and whiskey were flowing which is the traditional drink for Easter. Uncle Fred came all the way from Pittsburgh, Fred loves his Makers Mark. Wish you could have stayed longer. Tony, Kyle, Andy  and Rob were chugging the beer. Kelly, Debi and Terri were all doing their best to keep uncle Fred in line. Good job and thank you ladies. Beth and Dawn were doing what they could to  keep their men in line, oh well, at least you tried.

Mark had a fan, he even signed a drumstick for her, Mark you are a big stud!!

Thanks to everyone that stopped out, See you in Chillicothe.

January 2006

Hollywood on Main - January  14, 2005

Den couldn't speak because he had the flu, but he made it to the show - Den is an ironman.  Don't kid yourself - everyone missed his witty banter....when the other guys make fun of Dave, it just isn't the same.  Den has a talent for it...but then again - hey - Dave doesn't really need his help to look silly.  'Saw the old bowling crew....they helped us rock the house in Marion.  A big special Yo2 thanks to Andy for taking care of us and running sound.....it's an awesome sound system and it sounded great.

J.Lindsay's - January  7, 2005

<check--check....is this thing on?> It was by far the most successful first gig (at a bar we had not yet played for).  The place was packed....and everybody seemed to be having a great time...and we appreciate the hardworking folks there at JL's...they made us feel right at home.  'Special shout out to Craig C, Dora, both Wendys (how-you-doin - and -  in the House!), Julie,  Jason, Rockin' Jen, Matt, Norm, Dez, and all the rest of the people we spend our weekday-daylight hours with.  Thanks for coming out....you guys rock. See everybody back there March 25th.

December 2005

OK Cafe - December 21, 2005

OK....so it's been awhile since an update, but hey - don't you ever get busy?  (That's not what we meant - stop it). Our singer had to go to Mexico to get some Tequila, and it took him awhile.  Anyway, we raised the roof at the OK with no casualties, although Den took one in the teeth after a mic stand mishap.  The photos speak of the festive atmosphere, especially Mark's decorative Christmas lights on his kit.

We hope y'all had a safe and happy new year.  We're rested and ready for our inaugural show at J.Lindsay's on January 7th.

See ya at J.Lindsay's....

Deep Thoughts.....

We have T-shirts, bumper/window stickers available now, as well as a plethora of Planet Now CDs.  They're available at all Yo2 shows, but if ya can't wait, email smugglinyo_yos@yahoo.com and we'll "stick" one in the mail to ya.

HEY!...sign the Guest Book.  We wanna know where you saw us, what you thought, how much you had to drink, who you took home, and if her husband found out.

  •

Most of us have a coupla beers from time to time, but do the Yo2 guys (and everyone else) a favor - DON'T DRINK & DRIVE..   If you're the teensiest bit suspicious about your ability - you're already too far gone.  Call a cab, or call a friend.  No excuses, 'kay?  We wanna see you again.

  •

There's been some concern out there about folks having their picture taken at a Yo2 show.  Some folks love it, some folks aren't comfortable with their mug showing up on the website.  To that we say - no problem.  Just kindly let Craig or Rob (Yo2 photographers) or one of the Yo2 guys know that you don't want your picture taken, and he won't.  No sweat, no hassle, no objection.  The photos aren't taken to embarrass anyone (except Dennis), it's simply a modern way of documenting the fun.

We haven't given enough NEARLY enough credit to our buddy Craig for taking photos of the band.  Ladies, we don't have to remind you that Craig is single.  But we will: Craig is single.  Give him your phone number, you won't regret it...he has a really cool car, a house, and a real job.
